For What It’s Worth

Some say a man’s measure

Is the sum of his deeds

That his story

Is a mathematical equation

Multiply by two and carry the one

But I’ve never been

Of that particular persuasion

Some people believe

Irrespective of where a life leads

There are urges and motivations

We are not seeing

Others would say

Be that as it may

A man’s mettle is the

Energy he pours into his being

In the end it’s whether you and I

Can keep our heads held high

As we sail into the setting sun

Or pushing away blame

Hang our heads in shame

At all of the injustices

We have done
