In the eyes of others,

Their smile shines,

Their eyes are bright,

Their personality is bubbly and light,

But underneath that smile

And brightness of their eyes,

An attempt to hold back tears,

That are screaming to be cried.

Trying so hard,

To shine in the shadows

Fighting day by day

To hold back the pain.

Despite the things,

That broke their wings,

They try to fly again.

Under the blankets,

Hidden from the world,

They cry and scream,

They toss and turn,

They gasp for air,

As their memories and fears consume them.

Trying so hard,

To find comfort in the cold of night,

Fighting off the darkness,

That tries to grip them tight,

Despite the nightmares that wake them in fright,

They try to sleep through another lonely night.

Through their words,

They hide and say "I'm fine."

Through their eyes,

They show us their pain.

Through their actions,

They show us a sign,

That they are struggling,

To hold on to the light.

Trying so hard,

To show someone,

They are not okay,

Even though help,

Seems millenniums away.

Despite all they did,

To be noticed,

No one heard their cry.

Now they're gone,

And no one seems to know why.
