Here I am, running so fast

The new normal lies just ahead

This plagued world I do not like

Yet I continue, my mask on tight

I run alone, so far from many

Racing against a common enemy

I beg the world to let me take it slow

Let’s all pray there’s just a mile to go

Time to settle in and pace myself

Feels like a marathon, not a sprint

No time allowed to stop and rest

I must forge on and do my best

This marathon will end in time

My old self waits at the finish line

He’ll give me a hug then gently say,

Let’s run back to those good old days
