i wrote this many years ago as a teenager.

You’re going to take my life

And simply let it be

Thinking only of yourself

And nary a thought of me

My precious little life

Has barely just begun

But soon it will be ended

As you wish it to be done

I am so very small I know

Still life to me you give

So hear my cry “I AM A CHILD!

Please let me live!”

So tiny are these hands of mine

Just strong enough to grasp

And around my mother’s finger

I yearn for them to grasp.

If only you could see my eyes

And how brightly they do shine

You wouldn’t make them sad, Mom.

You’d spare this life of mine

I can smile too, you know

I do it when I’m happy

I wish you could see me Mom

It’s then I look like Daddy

Oh listen to my cry Mother

And hear what I have to say

All I ask is a chance to live

Please don’t take my life away

I am so very small I know

Still life to me you give

So hear my cry “I AM A CHILD!

Please let me live!”
