I’ve come to realize

that the heart is like a baby

before its learns its words.

Its cries are painful,

and alert you to trouble.

But, the source it does not confess.

To find the origin

of that pain,

and quiet the troubled cries,

is an art, a feat of skill.

Or, simply of trial and error.

But, when you quiet the pain,

and bring that baby a smile,

nothing else feels quite the same.

So, once you teach your baby to talk,

you can be most happy of companions.
