A poem about a blind veteran "feeling" the sunset

he feels the sunset

smiling

he feels the sunset

a Fredric Church sunset

graced the sky

as a boy he saw colors

loved each of them

in their own special hue

now three years after giving

his eyes for his country

he can only feel the

warmest sensations from the reds,

a little less from the yellows

and finally the cooler from the violets

he sits on his porch and smiles

at the glorious sunset

as his dog lies at his feet enjoying the

warmth of the rays with him
