The Cafe

There were only two people in the cafe. Each sat at a separate table, for they were not acquainted. They were both dressed in all black. One wore a skirt, just above the knee, straight in style. Silk stockings and patent shoes with a heel. A blouse, frilled about the collar and cuffs. The other wore trousers, socks and shoes, flat but the smallest heel. A shirt, simple but tailored.

Although not acquainted, they had arrived at the cafe at the same time; had both ordered at the counter and had both taken, from a black bag each had with them, a book, which they read while seated in the cafe. They both finished that which they had ordered at the same time, paid their respective bills, left a tip for the friendly and attentive waitress and left the cafe…

The End.
