Oh, this poor person is alone on Christmas! --- Really?

There are glassy bits of memory's

memorabilia

And nun to soon

they will hang upon the tree.

Among the twinkling of the light

In the silent dead of night

The Ghost of Christmas-past

will come to be.

She always comes

baring gifts of the past

My many thoughts

of the times that I grieve.

In my dreams they will appear

Bring on the heartfelt fear

"That the ones that I loved would ever leave."

I do not see the Ghost of Christmas Present

For a feast I can't prepare

I'm not able.

It is just me and Christmas Past

And my annual loveless fast.

All dressed up

but no more guests at the table.

I do not know the fate

of Christmas Future

When I'm gone

and they have taken me away.

Will they find the bodies in the walls,

Beneath the floorboards in the halls,

And out in the garden where they lay.

What a well written, sad and eerie poem. There are many people who struggle thru Christmas because of past Christmas. Thank you for sharing. Write On!

Oh, I love this one, JE. It starts off as an illustration of loneliness, but that final verse turns it into something very different.
Excellent poetry writing!

Thanks Hul. ... This is one of those poems that started with a single line rolling around in my head, and then it wandered off on it's own. (???)
