Rolling far from where we met
Then on out where our sun sets
Time ticks us on past our regrets
Never stopping, move ahead
Seemingly I wonder why
Things just seem to be in spite
Feeling held back in my life
I think to ask if you're alike?
May I know what's on your mind
Could it be the loss of time?
Do you think of what may hide
Tucked behind what we'll find
As we move beyond our light
Into a world outside our minds?
It won't be an easy fight;
No one shares our state of mind
Know that what distracts your eyes
Will be why you fall behind
You will lose your chance to fly
Do you think I may be losing
Don't look down; it just brings dread
Hope God has angels to send
If he'd heard what we said
Shield us from the dead,
This wave of of brokeness won't mend
God, I ask that if and when
The depressing days will end
Will you see our downhill trek
Through what might cause us to bend
And should we draw our final breath
Please don't let us hurt again
Yet alas as you and I
Seemed to leave the sky behind
Unwittingly losing light
Abandoning the very sight
Of what can end these lowly times
We don't even seem to know
The path our ignorance had chose
Missing every chance to grow
We take pride in those we broke
Making sure the fire's stoked
Burning what is best left froze
