The Simple Things

She’s feeling truly jaded,

like with all she’s had enough.

Stress and pressure

take their toll;

too much to contend with,

she’d like nothing better

than to close her eyes and sleep.

Instead she slips into her shoes,

slips her way out of the door

and walks away from people,

from the town and its hustle and bustle

and instead climbs her way

into a field.

It’s empty.

At least that is her initial impression

but all too soon she’s proven wrong.

Not by people,

but by nature,

as butterflies flitter,

and birds fly,

and the wheat in a gentle breeze does sigh.

And she breathes it all in,

takes a mental snapshot

of the simple things

that seem to her

to make the struggle,

the stress,

the pressure

all worthwhile.

An excellent take on the pic, if I'm not mistaken?

Umm, actually this time the poem came first, and this was the nearest pic I could find to fit it. Thanks for giving it a read.
