Enjoy the prompt for Fortnightly.

Within Cookie’s Saloon, on night of bounty, Redsword (pirate extraordinaire), counted his bounty on table, square. Maiden by his side, and bullion shining bright, laughter was in the air. Black was his story, as were his locks, grim were his fantasies, as were his teeth and beard. The liquor was red, and so were his mates, bloodied by Redswod’s sword, dead and poor.

Among high spirit, Redsword celebrated, gave rounds of ale to strangers there and melodies bore piano’s notes.

But stranger wrecked the door, ceasing celebrations there. Escaped from some unknown isle, or prison, or grave, he came to table staggering, and hopeless, lost. In his fist he bore a page, intently scattering the coins.

He slammed the paper down, and stood aloft.

Peering down, Redsword found his bane. The Black Spot. Accursed man from depths of hell, judgement had come for him. Sitting back, he took a breath, and solemnly ordered another round.

The prompt is obscured and the story is fantastic! Your opening paragraph hooked me! I loved "Black was his story as were his locks, grim were his fantasies as were his teeth and beard". WOW! Powerfully descriptive! Nicely written! Write On Spence!

Thank you for the encouragement! I'm a little stretched right now, which is why some of my work is really short, but I hope to make it entertaining anyway.

I thought this was for the fortune cookie one and I was SO confused.

But I enjoyed this little photograph anyway

It was. I made the prompt abstract. It takes place in Cookie's Salloon, and the fortune was the Black Spot. Of course, the pirate would want any other kind, since the Black Spot means he's doomed to die.

Thanks for reading!
