Boredom wearing me down as much as the side effects of radiation and hormone therapy.

Doing Nothing

Doing nothing all day

Takes a lot out of me

Doing nothing all day

Wears me down

Resting in a recliner

All day in front of the fireplace

Traveling to treatment

Is the only time I see the town

Whether my muscles have atrophied

Due to lack of activity

Or it’s the fatigue

That my physician warned me about

Halfway through the program

I find myself physically struggling

That my strength is diminished

There is no longer any doubt

Seeking treatment in the midst of a pandemic poses problems

And radiation is its own poison pill

I’m beginning to wonder

If I’m really tough enough

If the cancer doesn’t kill me

The boredom will

Is sleep eluding you again? Personally, I always get distracted on Nov22. I was 9 when Kennedy was assassinated, and thoughts and memories swirl around and in and out all day. Vot a day, darlinck. Whew. Anyway, you've got some 48,000 reads, so no time off for you. You've got to think, think, think for your faithful and loyal readership, who await thine choicest bon mots. Poets are tougher than they look, so I imagine you quite busy crafting a finer and more lyric world to step into once you recover, sir. Excelsior!

Any semblance of a normal sleep cycle has been obliterated. I’m up and down all throughout the night. Yeah, I guess I can handle this...being tired and lazy is no excuse.

I’m closing in on my goal...and then what? Move the goal posts, I guess. Life never ends...and I say that like it’s a good thing.

What is it that they say? “Life’s tough and the hours are a bitch.”
