Dark is the shadow, and bright is the light
I am a Reaper, and people cry out in fright
But no need to run, honey, I won’t ever bite
When no one is looking I slip out of sight
I stride along the street at the deepest of night
And night is the only time you can see the silver stars
Somebody told me I deserve to see the stars
Alone is what I am, and all I feel is despair
Darkness and I, we make quite a nice pair
But I never wished to bare those uneasy, fearful glare
So I cloak myself and wear a mask, none of them aware
That I am a Reaper, who dwells in nightmares
My honesty, my place to stand, gone into thin night air
I envied you, my golden friend, the child of sun, the only heir
But night is the only time you can see the silver stars
Somebody tell me that I deserve to see the stars
A cruel antinomy of contradictory falsity
A chink between lie and truth that pull us into calamity
Between the million little conflicts and breath sapping agony
I choose to drop my cloak and show everyone the reality
I hope that laying down my guards will bring me some serenity
So I shout out, facing eternity, and fighting against the gravity
My dear friends, I cross my heart and swear upon my dignity
That I speak the truth, so please believe me and my sincerity
I need you to know that night is the only time you can see the silver stars
I need to hear someone say that I deserve the stars
Clear was the sky when I saw the way you laughed
Dim became the sun when I saw that you had left
My stigma stifles me, so I hid away and wept
Then you came back, my golden friend, your oath you made was kept
Pulled me up and asked me, do you know how long you’ve slept?
It’s time to get up on your own two feet, your apology I accept
So across the gap of life and death I braced myself and leapt
The truth struck me like a sharpened piercing blade
As I made my biggest leap, as my arms and legs splayed
All those fake roles that I’ve played
And all my allies that I’ve slayed
I’ve failed so many that I began to fade
But if only I’ve known that greater light casts more shade
And from those shade I, the Reaper, was made
You told me, your hand in mine, I will never trade
Those warmth in words pulled me out of the masquerade
Night is beautiful, with its rich navy dye
In the dark I see you, I hear your laugh and sigh
For those in the daylight they never see stars up high
Only us, swallowed by night can have stars dancing in our eyes
Night is the only time you can see the silver stars
And you are the one who told me I deserve to see those stars
