GIRLS OF GLASS
In the morning’s light
We dance
On dainty feet and
Blades of grass
Shimmering in the sun and
Dew
Fields of copper and Gold
Surround us as we
Parade
In the evening’s proceeding shadows
We collapse
We rest
We dream for
A time
In the Moon’s stone-cold rays
We kill
We slay the memories of dawn
And the slivers of light
We shatter our minds and
Heart as
One
Silver shine refracting off of our
Broken bones and petrified
Souls
And there we wait
Until we will meet again
With the parting day.
NAMES
So many things
That we call our selves
What we say to each other
When we call
A tangle of words and
Emotions
That belongs to us
Alone
To pray and worship a
Thing
So unholy
And
Broken
Without it
We become
Nothing
It is our savior
Or identity
Our label
A permanent tattoo
Of sorts
Yet just one word
How can such
Power
Be held in the hands
Of one so
Small
What’s in a name?
All of these things and
So much more.
FLOWERS
Luscious colors overflowing and
Spatters of shades
Like a fractured painting
Drifting in the
Sweet scented breeze
A reminder and a story
To tell
Delicate petals worth more than
Silver
If you know just where to look
Monuments and children of
Nature
They stand tall as solders
Brave as warriors
Soft as silk
And
Brittle as bone
Just one cruel hand and
They are gone to the
Wind
Everlasting
Every present
And yet so
Overlooked
Like a
Shadow
Build to be
Then
Fade
But then again
Aren’t we all?
IN THE FIRST DECEMBER WIND
As whisper in the first
Moments of birth
Just a murmur and a
Wisp
Then a roar
Within
Seconds of the first
There is
Snow
Small flecks of the
Moon
Falling to the earth from the
Heavens above
Soft and smooth as
Silk
As you stand
The small grains coat your
Lashes
Stinging your face as they
Melt
Taste the
Cold
And feel it
Spread
Down your body
To the tips of your
toes
Trudge trough the mountains of
Snow
And call to the
First winds of December
As they fall with the snow
Around you.
THE HAPPIEST BLAZE
He was
Born
Just like you and me
As curling ball of warmth
In a
Hearth
Called from the hearth
By its only master
He grew in size
From a pea to a
Peach
To a watermelon
Then he was
No longer a
Spark but a
Fire
He was a proud
Beast
Hungry as a snake
And twice as
Cunning
His eyes a deep blue and his skin
An orange tinted hue
He would sit in his cradle and
Long
For the world beyond
He had seen
Hints of the glorious
Wood furnishings and
Paper garlands
My!
He thought
What a feast it would be!
Soon it was time
For him to take his first
Steps
At first
He was hesitant
Scared of the cold and
Darkness
But he soon became more
Confident
He started running through out the
Halls
Gobbling down
The stashes of food left just for
Him
By the time he reached the foyer
He was ten times the
Size
He had been before and
He was still
Growing
How happy he was when he joined the
Outside world
The grin on his face was
One of pure
Exhilaration
He was seemingly
Unaware of the
People
however
He didn’t mean to
But they were just so
Small
To him they were just
A tasty little
Snack
He was so busy devouring the
World outside
That he
Ran right through them
Eating their burning carcasses as he
went
How lovely it was
he thought to himself once more as he
settled back down
in his hearth
The world was so much quieter and
Delicious than it had seemed at
First glance
Happy holidays everyone
Deepest regards,
Rain Pette?????
