TW: suicide and death.
A creative nonfiction/semi-fiction song I wrote from personal experience. It's from the perspective of a mother who committed suicide encouraging her depressed daughter to keep living life, keep persevering.

Made a promise to you

I wouldn’t do it

Too late now

I didn’t keep it

Oh, how can you

trust at all?

How can you

live past the fall?

I’ll be okay

I’ll be okay

I won’t be okay

Cause I’m

Desperately

Desperately

Calling out from the sidelines

It’s a

stone’s throw away

to where it’s safe

I didn’t see it in time

I’ll be okay

Is what I’d say

When I wasn’t

You still have my heart, dear

Keep running with it

It’s not always clear

Oh, how I know it

But you’ll be okay

You’ll be okay

Please be okay

Oh, darlin’

How I couldn’t see

The hope that lay in front of me

But I swear, but I swear, but I swear

You have it, too

You’ll be okay

He’ll make a way

You’ll be okay
