A poem written June 14, 2020, Flag Day in the US in honor of the American Flag

I am here born in the arms of a brave woman named Betsy

I am here refusing to bow to a monarchy

I am here flying through bombs bursting in airs

I am here while my country brakes apart in secessionist fever

I am here when an enslaved people are freed

I am here in a theater called Ford

I am here in Flanders Fields fighting for freedom

I am here greeting Lady Liberty

I am here in Iwo Jima and Normandy

I am here in Tulsa, Selma, and Montgomery

I am here in Dallas and Memphis

I am here standing for freedom, liberty, and justice for all

I am here to proclaim how precious they are

I am here to remind you that you are all my children

I am here to proclaim unity against the forces of demagoguery and despair

I am thirteen stripes and fifty stars of hope and sacrifice

My name is Old Glory and I AM Here
