I was looking back at what Republicans used to think, you know, when I was one.

People are saying this about that, and others are say that about this, but no-one is asking, "What is the Truth?"

The fact is, the Truth is Subjective; yes, the Truth is, facts are not.

No matter what the facts are, there are people that will entertain dictatorship or military rule just to say that Their Truth was True. That is fact, that is truth, and that is a crying shame!

"Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists and rebels - men and women who dare to dissent from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, may we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion." Dwight D. Eisenhower

You do not lead by hitting people over the head -- that's assault, not leadership.” ... Dwight D. Eisenhower

Extremes to the right and to the left of any political dispute are always wrong.” ... Dwight D. Eisenhower

"I despise people who go to the gutter on either the right or the left and hurl rocks at those in the center." ... Dwight D. Eisenhower

The problem in defense is how far you can go without destroying from within what you are trying to defend from without.” Dwight D. Eisenhower

Sorry to say but if Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan were alive today, they would be considered as RINO and wouldn't be nominated. Hell, I think Barry Goldwater would be to liberal for the Trump, I mean Republican Party of today.

In my opinion, Trump is what happens when Republican voters lost faith in their own party, but refuse to say so. Trump was never a Democrat, and now he is not a Republican, he is Trump, rich and always has been. HE does not think like the average Joe, he can't because he has had everything handed to him on silver platters. --- The Democrats have suffered badly too, they keep moving to the left and alienating the centralist working class. They've lost voting power because of it. But in a few years our children and grandchildren will do the choosing, and we'll be dead. LOL! --- So why all the hostility?

When I was young, I watched as the JFK Democrats kicked the George Wallace Democrats out of the party. Now those people are a major component of the Republican base. Today a man like Eisenhower would get 5% of the vote as a Republican.

From George W. Bush on, I left the party for good. --- About the time of WWII, the parties started changing ideals and flipping positions. Former Governor of Alabama George Wallace ran in the 1968 United States presidential election as the candidate for the American Independent Party, after running unsuccessfully as a Democrat 3 times. Wallace's pro-segregation policies during his term as Governor of Alabama were rejected by many of the southern Democrats as being racist. Wallace, by his own admission, never expected to win the presidency.
