Early in the morning
As the nocturnals go
Back to those places
Were nocturnals go
I look out my window
At the blanket of snow
And I ponder the question,
"Did God make it so?"
Some flakes falling here
And a flurry over there,
A minuet mini-blizzard
Has made wonders to share.
And all for the eyes
To see and behold
These blankets of wonder
Left out in the cold.
The question still plagued me,
"Was it nature or God?"
The thought was rather haunting
And I thought it quite odd
That I should be thinking
Such a thought, oh so queer,
When the snow was just waiting
For a snowman to appear.
So I woke up the family
And each straggled out alone
To fashion a Snow-Person
Gender, Unknown.
With a hat from the rack
And a Coke-bottle nose
A scarf from the couch
And it's buttons were bows.
Then we stood back to admire
Our creation, so gnarly,
Our genderless Snow-person
The one we called Charlie.
Then the thought came back,
"Who brought the snow?"
And I laughed right out loud
Cause I still didn't know.
