Having brown eyes

means lowering them to the ground

whenever someone walks by

Having brown eyes means

seeing the world in a million, fleeting colors,

but never being able to capture

even one

It means keeping secrets

Taking in the entire world but

never - not even once -

letting something held inside break

free

Having brown eyes

mean quietly accepting the

solid fact that nobody

in the whole wide world

will ever come up and say

hey

your eyes are beautiful

Or maybe it is not so

Maybe

having brown eyes means

never giving up

Being stubborn, fierce

mighty

hopless

It means approaching

the grime covered shell

brushing aside the layer

of sticky dust

coaxing the shell open -

even but a slit - so that

the bright sheen of the milky pearl

could axpand

and light up the whole room

with a pale silvery glow

Maybe

having brown eyes

means searching the entire

wide-stretching galaxy to find

that single person

who looks you straight

in the eyes -

with open wonder

reserved only for gazing

upon the

seven wonders of the world - and say

my dear

your eyes

shine brighter than Sirius

hold more beauty than the

Waterlily Dahlia

hide more secrets

than IC 1101

charm me

more than a billion

pale ocean

eyes
