Unlikely Friends
The deer approaches timidly.
She’s lonely, bereft;
for, of her family, she’s all that is left.
The horse lifts it’s head,
regards her through those gentlest eyes,
that equine kindness is not disguised.
They meet up together to stand in the field;
an unlikely companionship soon becomes sealed.
