Unlikely Friends

The deer approaches timidly.

She’s lonely, bereft;

for, of her family, she’s all that is left.

The horse lifts it’s head,

regards her through those gentlest eyes,

that equine kindness is not disguised.

They meet up together to stand in the field;

an unlikely companionship soon becomes sealed.

A beautiful poem that is easy to imagine as you read it. When deer come on the property where I live, this black cat that I feed just look at them, flicks it's tail and walks away

Animals, for the most part, are for more tolerant of each other than people are. Thanks, 88.
