A shy, young woman unexpectedly bumps into her soulmate.

Katy left work and went to her favorite store to do some shopping. It had been a while since she had indulged herself in a new outfit but with winter coming on she really needed heavier clothes in her wardrobe. She had recently moved from Florida to Idaho. Her company where she previously worked had closed their office and offered her a job in a satellite office here. She really liked working with them so she accepted their offer. What she didn’t plan on was the extreme difference in climate. Coeur d’Alene was in the upper peninsula of Idaho. Their highest temperatures were lower than the low temperatures in Florida and her wardrobe was not meeting the challenge of the difference.

She headed straight for women’s apparel. She was concentrating hard on how much she could spend so she didn’t notice the man crossing in front of her from men’s department to shoes. He didn’t seem to be watching out either and the two collided at the first shoe display. She started to scold him then realized she was as much to blame as he was so she apologized instead. “I’m so sorry. I wasn’t looking where I was going. I hope I didn’t hurt you.”

No, it was my fault as well and I’m fine. Just a little ashamed I wasn’t watching where I was going either. Are you alright?”

“Yes, I’m fine, too. Please excuse me but I have to do my shopping.”

“What are you looking for? Maybe I could help you since you seem to be new to Coeur d’Alene. What are you shopping for?”

I’m looking to add some heavier clothes to my wardrobe. I recently moved here and my wardrobe thinks it is still in Florida. Even layering some of my things does not keep me warm enough.”

“I have a sister about your size. Maybe I could help you pick out the addition to your wardrobe. May I come with you?”

“That would be great. I really am not sure what would be best to wear for work and definitely have no idea what to buy for social engagements.”

They walked side-by-side exchanging chitchat until reaching the women’s wear. He helped her pick out a couple of office outfits that would mix and match giving her more for her money that way. She liked that he was frugal with a great taste in women’s style and being handsome didn’t hurt either. She guessed he was about 6 foot tall and seemed the right weight for his height. Under the heavier clothes, she couldn’t tell if he was muscular or not but he moved as if he worked-out and was athletic. His blonde hair was in a good style for his face. His eyes were blue to compliment his hair and sparkled nicely as they selected clothes. His features were perfect to go with the rest of him. As she glanced down at his left hand she saw no ring to signify whether he was married.

They left the office wear section and tackled the social event styles. Presently she had no formal engagements so she needed a more casual look. He immediately took her to a rack with cocktail dresses. He selected one that was very feminine and accented her lavender eyes and light brown hair. It would show off her great figure but would still be demure. Then he added a second one that was a little more casual. She could wear it to social events or to the office. Next he led her to the coat section since he doubted she had brought a heavy coat from Florida. His choice was a full-length coat in the same lavender shade as her eyes with golden buttons and a collar that could be unfurled into a hood. He’s selections were amazing. Everything was just what she would have picked for herself.  Best of all, the entire addition to her wardrobe was within her budget. It was just as if he read her mind.

When she paid for her purchases and they left the store, she didn’t want the evening to end. After she placed the items in her car, she turned to tell him thank you and goodnight. As she faced him once again, he closed the car door and asked her to join him for dinner. Again he was reading her mind and she quickly accepted. They walked to his car parked around the corner and he drove her to his favorite restaurant.

They seemed to know him here and immediately took them to a table they knew was his favorite. It was in a quiet corner where they could talk and get better acquainted. She had never been here before and was impressed with his selection. When she looked at the menu it was difficult to choose among all her favorite dishes. She finally made a choice that turned out to be the very same thing he ordered. Even their choice of cocktails was the same. As they exchanged information with each other while waiting for the food, she learned he owned his own business. He designed and created original pieces of jewelry that he sold in his shop. She worked for a national jewelry company as a designer but did not have the training to create her designs so she sent her designs to the main office and they did the creating from her ideas. Their office here was just for designers because it was such an inspirational place to work from nature and incorporate it into their work.

Even after they finished their meal they continued to sit and talk. When he realized how late it was getting he paid their bill and drove her back to her car. As she got out he asked her for another date. She was quick to answer yes and give him her address. Amazingly they lived on the same block of apartments. That sealed it. He got out of the car and took her in his arms. His kiss was absolute proof that they were soulmates. She looked forward to their lives together because she knew he would some day ask her to marry him. A few months later he did ask her and they were married in the Coeur D'alene Church Of The Nazarene that September.

The two soulmates lived long and happy lives together. She quit her job and worked with him in his shop. He taught her to create her designs in metal and gems and they became highly sought after for their work. Their three children fulfilled their dream family and they welcomed their eight grandchildren in their later years. The soulmates continued their lives together even after death because they had created pieces of jewelry for each  of their children depicting themselves with arms entwined and haloes over their heads.
