The feel of a bonfire.

The Bonfire

Saturday night smells like smoke, the good kind

we laugh as we roast our smores while the imam sings prayers

and the heat of the bonfire cools me, gives me warmth

the sound of kids running around, rushing to add their ingredients to their gooey desserts

the sky filled with stars shining and the forest empty

the lake gleaming and the smell of burning wood

while a woman comes in front of us, telling us to show everyone our talents and skills

people gasping in awe and laughing as the bonfire gives me warmth

itsembers flying out of the flickering flames

I have never been around a bonfire, but it's always been something I've wanted to do and your poem made me want to experience it more. It was a great poem, and I felt like it really captured the essence of a bonfire.

Your poem is beautifully written. I have grown up around bonfires from a young age and this has shown me a different aspect on how others may have experienced bonfires. The details you wrote about the night smells like smoke is a perfect detail to add. Because as i read it i was brought back to the times where i have spent at bonfires. I also enjoy the factor that you've added "Singing Prayers", not many people would think of singing prayers around the bonfire. Your poem gives me a bonfire camp night for children. Very good work.

Thanks, everyone. It is inspired from when I went to a bonfire with my family and friends.
