A Blanketed Land
It’s as though a blanket has been tossed
across the landscape;
bleaching out all color,
muting out all sound.
A scene straight from a Christmas card,
unmarked,
serene;
but all too soon the sun will shine,
will heat and melt,
leaving puddles wherever that blanket has been.
