It should speak for itself.

Death Gone Viral

The inhumanity is caused
by a death becoming
nothing but a statistic
anonymously observed
by fearful watchers
who mainly care about
that one person they
don’t really know, but
who appears in the
morning mirror as a
fuzzy image of decency.

Hollow wishes for
fellow humans are fired
like the bullets of a
machinegun mowing
across our social
no-man’s land: fast,
unseen and wounding
too many.

The end of civilisation as we
know it, or as we wish it to be?
The end of something that
history books will explain.

It's been a shit of a year for everyone down here with the bush fires, and then the virus, hope things improve.
Well written Bert!

Thanks for your feedback, Tom. It hasn't been a walk in the park here either... Hang on, that's about all we can do over here now.

You certainly have a point here, Bert, about the dehumanising effects of all these statistics. It seems to be getting really bad again.
On a different note, I was just wondering if you were okay so it was a relief to see your post.

Thanks Hull. I'm fine, I have just been busy with other things. I find it rather worrying that statistics seem to be driving policy making in a number of fields in such a way that moral and ethical aspects seem to evaporate.
