When both sides are a part of the problem.

They say we deserve better.
Tell that to the multiple women and men who died.
Tell that to the folks who shed over the blood their loved one has laid in.
Tell that to the trail our ancestors once marched on for a better day.
Remember to say that to the people who live and die by the gun.

Why does it take a white man to shoot a nigga for it to matter?
Too many bodies have pilled up on the concrete.
Some were from the hate that starts deep within the soul,
while others are being selfish to their kind.

Some problems come to light,
While others are hiding in site
Can someone please tell me why?
Is it because compatibility is not questioned on either side.
Do we continue to point fingers and believe the lies?

Or do we face it and take part in the change to fix the problems they try to hide.
Uncover the mask they both are hiding from when it comes to the truth.
Provide and learn from the proof.
Set a higher standard for our community.

Avoid fitting in the nasty stereotype,
So cops won't get another opportunity.
Start to focus on us setting a better example.
So they can learn to take us seriously.

Once we learn to change our actions,
To better our community.
The message will come through more.
So there can be a better tomorrow.
To see what is in store.

What a strong poem you have here. From the very start your words pulled me in and i could straight away see the anger in your words. See how angry although progress may have been made in the past it was never enough. Before 2020 many people ignored the racial battle that was being fought. People were silenced and as you said bodies piled up. No one spoke of it because they didn't want to admit how unfairly people were still being treated. They didn't want to admit people are still corrupt towards certain races. Unfortunately you're right many people are still focused on stereotypes that should no longer exist. It shouldn't have taken this many deaths for people to open their eyes to truly see what is going on in the world. For people to realise their needs to be change. Because change should have happened a long time ago.
One note i would make to you is i don't understand the title "We've Been Deserve Better" do you mean "We did Deserve better", "We always deserved better". I'm just a little bit confused by what you mean. The words "We" , "Deserve Better" are perfect but it's the one in between that isn't making the title run smoothly.
