Abraham on Walkabout
..........................................................by Steven P. Pody
Mister,
.............the neighboring town's an unsightly dump !
The pottery is shoddy, and the camels, abused.
...A desert hole, without even a stump.
Stay here, and enjoy. You've got nothing to lose.
Our water's less salty; our grain is more tasty;
why, their 'great' city hall is barely a shack !
Here, your nephew's family
..............................................tread in unspoiled safety.
But in Sodom, ...I'd keep a wall at your back !
And, as long as you ask, don't be
.................................................a downbeat judge.
Our wine, our gambling, and our gals are the best.
That's not what you meant? Well, we hold no grudge.
Pick your vice, sir, ...and we'll do the rest.
How 'bout divine guidance? Choose a temple site !
We've got lots of fun gods in this town.
You want what's holy and noble, right ?
Hey ! ...Enough lotus bestows any crown !
What? No difference between our folks, and them ?
...Not one soul spurning evil's embraces ?
Whew, grandpa, chill !
........................................Don't be gloom-doom, and condemn.
Hot Gomorrah is going places !
