One in the Same

By Allen Henriquez

Morning Coffee consumed

kids not home

doorbell rings

Woman dressed as Santa there

Survey says she

Santa delivery survey

you’ve got “other” on all your papers

The big push is on

“Other” what “other” blended with what “another”

Latino Asian Mexican Hawaiian

“other” how “other” where

behind her were a national variety of

ethnic group Santas

a line of them all smiling

Santa’s all ready to know all ready

to go

“other” said she

“other” “other” “other”

American I mutter

She smiled then gone

All like they had never been born

Somewhere someone of the gone or

perhaps still present muttered

Merry Christmas American “other”

one in the same Christmas lovers
