Orwell knew

The world’s turned into an amusement park,

With upside down rides and fun and games

The fun house mirror reflects a distorted reality,

Demons wearing angel’s clothing in human form

Pretending, transcending, twisting and bending,

Warping what used to be normal into grotesque

Carnival barker as president leading his sheep

Astray, down the rabbit hole to Alice’s realm

A void of unreality where all The Mad Hatters play

At being leaders instead of the followers they are

The Alpha Dog growls and glowers with fevered eyes

And the pack cowers, bow, and nod their heads

While all the while The Alpha Dog smiles,

Or the grimace that passes for one, “I am your King!’

“Animal Farm’ come true, with a pig in charge

Orwell knew and tried to warn us
