The Christmas Market

A place full of color, of chatter, of laughter

as the crowds move in towards the stalls.

So much choice, so many options,

the perfect place to find that difficult gift.

But this year the stalls remain empty,

and the market is bereft of buyers and sellers;

only the ghost of chatter and laughter echoes through the emptiness,

along with those haunting sights and smells.

A sad but excellent poem, Hull

Thanks, Mike. This was inspired by the opening of a Christmas Market, that was reported in the UK, which had to be closed within an hour because it got so packed.
