I really like your idea behind this. It's hard to say where it will go from one chapter, but it really could go anywhere and I'm sure it will be interesting. I liked the glimpse into a small part of her attitude and how she doesn't want to use the journal, it adds a bit more to the picture of her which will develop more as this goes on. Great start.
