Glue Wasn't Strong Enough

Without knowing where the years went
Nor recalling how the months were spent
The weeks disappeared with the rest
But there was a time
When I had the time
And that time was the best.
Yes there was a time
When I had the time
To make the time for you
But as the hours slipped by
The minutes did fly
And the seconds escaped too.
Glue wasn’t strong enough
Nails weren’t the right stuff
No screws would hold us together
So love fell apart
To shatter the broken heart
Touched only by a feather.
I went my way
And you had to stay
But what else could we do
Time even left to take flight
As each day became a night
And the yellow sun turned to blue.
Without knowing where the years went
Nor recalling how the months were spent
The weeks disappeared with the rest
But there was a time
When we had the time
And that time was the best.
Glue wasn’t strong enough
Nails weren’t the right stuff
No screws would hold us together
So love fell apart
To shatter the broken heart
Touched only by a feather.
