Dead Man Walking
Yeah that’s right
I said it
DEAD MAN WALKING
My warranty has expired
I’m sick of being sick
And I’m tired of being tired
I’ve done my part for humanity
Meager as that may be
I’ve stood against social injustice
Ive railed against all of the insanity
I’ve lived my life at a distance
Without family, hearth or home
Tried to be part of the solution
I’m neither proud nor ashamed
Of what I’ve done
So please don’t judge me harshly
But if you so choose then that’s fine
Each path presents its perspective
You’re built on your observations
My consciousness consecrates mine
Each of us records our own history
A life’s ledger of toil and tears
The scribe never sets aside pen and quill
Until the end of our days, weeks, months, and years
So again I say
DEAD MAN WALKING
Clear the way for a body
Who has paid his due
I’ve done what I can
To raise up my fellow man
Now I’m passing the torch
To you
