What are the origins of life?

"Based on my reading and observation/deep thinking, it seems like DNA/RNA were deliberately designed and then programmed into the first proto-cells billions of years ago, and then these cells were let loose on Earth, pitted against the elements and changing environs, thus leading to natural selection and adaptation. Darwin's theory of natural selection offers a very limited view of how species evolved, and any amount of thinking will clearly display that the varied forms of life on the planet could not have just arisen by natural selection from a common ancestor. THERE HAS TO BE A FORCE AT WORK TO ENGINEER THE FIRST NUCLEIC ACIDS AND THEN CAUSING DRAMATIC SPECIATION AT VARIOUS POINTS IN TIME! Please note I used the word " Force", since I do not believe any of the world's organized religions or their God/gods/goddesses or scriptures stand up to common, rational sense or very rudimentary science They were all made up by men/people to fill in the gaps and make sense of the world as they saw it thousands of years ago, to offer an explanation, an incredulous one, at that. For me, it is way more likely that an advanced race of beings/ entities created the " Life Experiment" on Earth billions of years ago, and then let the cells loose to see how this game of survival proceeds, and populations evolve, to maybe help with their own data gathering and experimentation. The panspermia theory alludes to this possible fact as well. I could never have fathomed that I would actually seriously consider this idea, but after much study and deliberation, it stands out as a very strong possibility to me. Please share your thoughts.

This is what the Great, and now Late, Stephen Hawking had to say about the origin of life:

"We do not know how DNA molecules first appeared. The chances against a DNA molecule arising by random fluctuations are very small. Some people have therefore suggested that life came to Earth from elsewhere, and that there are seeds of life floating round in the galaxy. However, it seems unlikely that DNA could survive for long in the radiation in space. And even if it could, it would not really help explain the origin of life, because the time available since the formation of carbon is only just over double the age of the Earth."

And this is what Elon Musk has to say:

“The absence of any noticeable life may be an argument in favour of us being in a simulation.... Like when you're playing an adventure game, and you can see the stars in the background, but you can't ever get there. If it's not a simulation, then maybe we're in a lab and there's some advanced alien civilization that's just watching how we develop, out of curiosity, like mould in a petri dish.... If you look at our current technology level, something strange has to happen to civilizations, and I mean strange in a bad way. ... And it could be that there are a whole lot of dead, one-planet civilizations.”

So, what does it sound like? That DNA WAS ENGINEERED AND SAFELY SEEDED ON OUR PLANET! By whom, or what, or why? That is the ultimate question.

An interesting question Fuad, and answers have come from the knowledge base of the time, and maybe we'll never know for sure. Manipulation by some outside power? If so why do we have experimental fossils? I've worked with nature all of my life... a Sequoia seed is about as big as three pinheads, yet it has the potential to grow to be the biggest tree in the world. But it needs the right conditions and stimultion - it won't grow well without the fungus mycorrhiza for a start. By some fluke, conditions on this planet were such that some small microbe appeared, time and incredible luck did the rest. Usianguke

Agreed. The fluke conditions and incredible luck that you refer to though, and are the conventional biological explanations of the origin of life, seem to be so outrageously impossible that you start wondering big time. Plus, tantalizing evidences like the Murchison meteorite and perfect biological design and adaptation of each species seems to be so genetically predetermined that it is impossible to ignore the alternative possibilities. Thank you for the kind review and comments!

There's yet another take on all of this fuad. Recorded history goes back onlt 5000 years years, yet man was we know him goes back 150 000 years. So what was he doing? During that 150 000 years years, there have been as many as 16 events, that had they happened today, they would wipe out civilisation as we know it. Which might mean going back to square one. I've always wondered why the ancients were so fascinated with the stars and how the Dogon people knew about the Sirius star system without seeing it. Usianguke

Absolutely. And it is only the tip of the iceberg, just based on living organisms and the evolution of life, it becomes abundantly apparent that it has been guided, engineered and planted genetically strategically throughout the geological time scale. I once refused to teach a course on the Cambrian Explosion and the sudden re-emergence of a plethora of life in an evolutionary blink-of-the-eye out of nowhere to populate the Earth simply because I could not justify it scientifically or logically in my own mind! Even an infinite amount of time could not account for the perfect adaptation and design of life forms simply based on natural selection that we see all around. Natural selection seems to explain INTRA-specific change and refinement, within the same species, but not INTER-specific evolution, one species transforming into a completely different form. There is certainly a whole lot more to the evolutionary and human story and history than what conventional science to date and for sure the world religions and philosophies attempt to ascribe to it.
