The Cage
Everywhere I walk I push a metal cage on
wheels. It has a padlock on it to keep its
contents secure.
Up hills, down hills, I push, around and around
the bay, along the beach I push. People ask eachother,
" Why's he pushing a cage? " And others yell out to me,
" Why are you pushing that cage? "
I ignore them and keep pushing the cage. It's an
exhausting activity but I keep well away fro the busy
streets, and places, I don't want the cage to be hit
by a car, or attacked by dogs or teenagers. I want
my cage to be safe.
Finally as night falls, I push my cage into my home,
and let out the tiny mannequin nearly asleep within...
Me...
