Say ‘NO’ to Dynastic Politics!

Penalties for refusing to participate in politics, is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.’

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.’

Edward R. Murrow

The most plausible, proven, workable and better political system than all the other governing models is democracy; which basically implies that people have the authority to choose their governing legislators. It is primarily the rule of the majority.

There are pros and cons of every system and despite democracy being the most common form of government around the world, there are countries where dynastic politics is very common. Majority of people in those countries are unable to comprehend or are not conscious to clearly realize the downsides of dynastic politics due to various reasons, like lack of education, feudalism, poverty and general backwardness, to name a few.

Some people may argue that there is no harm and absolutely nothing wrong with the concept of political dynasties. An example is quoted that those who excel in a specific profession want their children and the other family members to carry on the family legacy, or adopt the same profession in view of successes earned by the founding member(s) of the family.

That argument is only valid and pertinent in case of choosing a profession for the other members of the same family like for example; a successful and respected surgeon may want his or her children to become surgeons as well; however, governing a country is a whole different ballgame altogether. The vision, experience, values, skills and competencies required to effectively manage an extremely complex setup like a country entail a different sort of arrangement and perspective. That is to be considered by those who elect such governments, i.e., the voters of a constituency and people in general.

If you confront a situation where the political party you support follows a dynastic political model, hold on! Be very cautious; think again and think clearly. If you see that the person steering that party has not been democratically chosen within the party and lacks mandatory skill set, competencies, abilities, values and experience, please do not waste your vote on that person. Remember; your vote can essentially make or break the future of your country. Your vote is the most important tool that you have. Have a good grasp on reality!

If that person appears to you as a deserving candidate then feel free to make your own decision. However, no one should be allowed any leniency or given any preferences based on his or her political connections or the family background.

Remember; a person of superior intellect and integrity will never support any political leader who has not been democratically elected within a party.

Those with servile attitude or vested interests overwhelmingly support the dynastic political model. That is dishonesty and treachery at the highest level!

You must remember that the society as a whole is a group of people and you are one of them, the most important one, to be honest! Therefore to establish a good society, you must play your part well!

When a person is selected due to his or her family ties, that is virtual murder of merit. Never be a part of the move that causes the death of merit, which in turn will cause immense distortion in the society.

Always elect your leader on MERIT. Say NO to dynastic politics.
