Miles behind me
No idea what’s ahead
It incites in me hope
But also dark dread
It’s likely no better
Than what went before
Unless someone out there
Dares to open a door
My feet are so blistered
Bruised, tattered and sore
I’m not sure I can make it
but a few miles more
The road looks deserted
As it's been the whole way
My skin cracks and bleeds
And exhausted I sway
I nibble a little on a stale
Bit of crust
As I leave bloody footprints
behind in the dust.

Kind of a 'Song Of The Refugee'. Nice structure, progression and concise thought - no wasted words. Good job!
