Moving Forward
Tonight, as the capital grounds were cleared of rioters by armed members of the National Guard, one question is nagging my mind. Where did all of those extremists disappear to?
Did they go back to their rooms at the Holiday Inn to regroup for another run at anarchy tomorrow? Did they climb back into their Trump bedecked pickup trucks and vans and head back to whatever redneck Shit holes spawned them? Where did they go? And what chaos might we witness tomorrow?
What of the congressmen and representatives who facilitated the madness with their divisive rhetoric? These politicians who decided to capitalize financially on the hatefulness that is tearing our democracy apart as a political fundraising mechanism are culpable in the violence and destruction that befell our nation on what is arguably one of the darkest days of this nation’s modern history.
Who will be held accountable for today’s seminar on white privilege?
In this era of fake news, alternative facts, and absolute indifference to the truth it is of paramount importance to not ignore, trivialize, rationalize nor forget the events of today...or the political movers and shakers that bear at least some portion of the responsibility for them.
Yes, their exists a tension in our society that is ugly and vulgar and very, very real. The chaos and violence of today is a symptom of a larger problem. But certain parties added fuel to the fire by their actions, and other players fueled the inferno by inaction. The enablers who did not stand up and condemn the insanity leading up to the audacious acts of insurrection and sedition are as culpable as those who actively encouraged and abetted these crimes.
And yes, make no mistakes, these were crimes...bordering on treason...facilitated at least in part by those elected officials who swore an oath to defend the constitution of the United States.
Who will be held accountable, if anyone? Lines were crossed. Laws were broken. Blood was spilled in a misguided display of irrational “patriotism”. Actions, and sometimes inaction, must have consequences.
The congress and House of Representatives demonstrated their willful disconnect from the common citizen.
Let them eat cake. Indeed.

Well said. --- Every voter should be messaging their law makers for the 25th amendment to be applied.
Thu, January 7th, 2021 4:30pmThe rioters should be arrested and prosecuted. Trump should be impeached, convicted, and barred from ever holding federal office again. If there was ever a question that Trump cares about the Constitution, the last two weeks have confirmed he'd be happy using it as toilet paper.
And remember these names. These are the Senators and Congressmen who voted against certification of the election results. Each of them needs to be voted out of office.

All of herr trump’s enablers should face...some kind of real punishment for their roles.
I’m beginning to really wonder if Donny is just crazy or truly insane. Not that it matters. In a week and a half is get-out-of-jail-free card expires.
With any luck the whole fam will serve time for fraud. I’m not gonna hold my breath, but one can hope.
I expect that because of this very fact, his antics will become increasingly bizarre and unhinged.
Whatever the case, not only should he be held accountable for his actions, but he should be barred from holding public office ever again.
What happened in the US was way out of order. A disgusting demonstration of how divisive not only America but the whole world is becoming.

The problem is that this time it was our misguided president misleading his brainwashed minions.
Next time it will be sophisticated foreign agencies manipulating the same gullible rubes with more diabolical intent.
And we showed them the soft underbelly of our society.

Trump had incited the crowd with his words into a mob bent on sedition. The overthrow of a duly elected official was at hand.
