Who Cares About Love?

Who cares about,

Who cares about love?

It’s just an abstract notion

Sent from above.

We of the lower orders

Just can’t comprehend

What it ever means

And when it ever ends.

Does it make one happy?

I can only pretend

To believe in love

Now that I’ve lost my only friend.

I thought I loved her

That it would never end

But she found someone better

Now I can’t make amends.

I guess I always knew

I can hardly pretend

That I just wasn’t worth it

I did not deserve her love

And now it’s the bitter end.

Seems to me that mostly it's some abstract ideal invented just to cause pain. Well said, Craig.

Thanks Hullabaloo. Maybe that's true, about the abstract ideal and inevitable pain, but I still live in hope. Besides, my cats still love me and I'm listening to the Opera Show on a Saturday afternoon in summertime Australia with them. They hate the sopranos, of course, but looking out at the bush and listening to the songbirds has cheered me up. There is always another love somewhere. All the best, Craig.

Yeah well, I was feeling a bit sorry for myself when I wrote this, but I'm well over that now. It comes and it goes. Cheers, Craig.
