THE LAST CHANCE DANCE
They’re taking down the bunting
It’s too late to do some hunting
Should have mulled it in advance
‘Cause it’s the last chance dance
They have shut off the PA
Taken all the punch bowls away
Said goodbye to the DJ
Yes it’s the last chance dance
If you hoped to snag a sweetie
With a kiss or an entreaty
Now you hardly stand a chance
At this, the last chance dance
They are locking the gym doors
Sweeping crepe scraps from the floors
Wave goodbye, cheri amours
It’s too late for an advance
Wave goodbye, cheri amours
To this, the last chance dance
Your cold cream may have dried
And Father Time have lied
But there’s still a shred of chance
If you act and you act now
Yes there’s still a shred of chance
At the last chance dance
If you listen very closely,
You will hear faint strains of music
You will hear faint strains of music
And you still may have a chance
If you listen very closely
You will hear faint strains of music
So take hope and then take action
If you value a romance
Yes move fast and do it quickly
Don’t be shy, don’t be prickly
Reach out now and choose a partner
This may be your final chance
Reach out now and choose a partner
At the last chance dance
