A Magical Land

It glitters! It sparkles!

It beckons me on.

I need to move swiftly

before it is gone;

for there in the fence

there’s a hole that does glow.

How will I fit?

Well, I really don’t know.

Down on my knees

I lean forward to spy

a sight that amazes

and makes my heart fly.

There through the gap

is a scene full of magic;

I know that to spoil it

would be something tragic.

As much as it pains me

I will not intrude

on that sparkling vista

that I have just viewed.

I’ll hide it away

behind some green leaves,

in hope that the glitter,

the magic it weaves,

does not get noticed

and fails to attract

unwanted attention

that would lead to attack.

A fairy-tale land

will be quite safe from me

and I’ll do what I can

to ensure it stays free.
