A recap of last night's Toronto/Winnipeg game.

The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 last night thanks to Mitch Marner.

After a three point night against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, Marner scored two goals in last night's win.

There was no scoring in the first period.

Shots on goal were even, 10-10.

Leaf's Captain, John Tavares, opened the scoring at 5:28 of the second period.

Marner made it 2-0 at 18:39.

Kyle Connor made it a 2-1 game at 19:13

Toronto outshot Winnipeg in the second period 22-6.

Marner scored an empty netter at 19:37 of the third period.

Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe, said that he is happy with his team's progress.

"We definitely seen progress in a lot of areas," said Keefe in last night's postgame press conference.

Toronto's Justin Holl had two assists last night.

Jet's goalie, Connor Hellebuyck stopped 35 shots last night.

Toronto hosts the Edmonton Oilers tomorrow night.
