Ah, a temporary respite
During the lull in the storm,
A time of reflection
To what they call the norm,
And as we stop to see
What direction is most bold
The storm resumes its pace,
So we huddle in the cold.
And as it is with many storms
There are elements, more than One;
Wind, Rain, Hail, and Snow
Before the storm is said and done.
And as we seek our options,
While viewing a stark tomorrow,
We see that different truths
Can bring destructive sorrow.
So we go our separate ways
Remembering that we are One,
United by "these truth self-evident"
Under the American sun.
And even though storms may rage
Most can see the light,
Ever changing and rearranging
Through the storms of any night.
And when it's over we still are One
United under the American sun,
Even though storms may rage
We manage to "get-er-done".
Yes, America must continue to change
Or She'll be frozen in the midst of a storm,
A storm with fractional divisions
Far from the predictable norm.

I like it, and I pray that it's prophetic, that in the end we'll still be a country. I don't think the world could be without a USA right now, could be akin to Rome falling.... and for many of the same reasons. Good write, I could feel the pain and the uncertainty.

Thanks J.D. --- I remember a history teacher of mine, high school, saying that Rome was a possible model of what would happen to the USA if the USA didn't stay self sufficient. Hope he was wrong.
