My head was burnin' with fury. My heart would be forever bruised. Laura was weeping away in her room. No papa? I would have to be the man of the house- er well, girl of the house. Laura was too girly and soft-hearted -no offense, and my mom she was far too tired and sad now. So I took charge. I cooked the meals, bought the groceries, fed the animals we owned... And a little something I wasn't really asked to do. I spread the news of my papa's death, because we needed a protest. I may be only a thirteen year old gal, but I'm a strong one my mother tells me. So I'm off to the beach.

I strolled down the shore. I saw another girl. She was pale-skinned and had black hair, just like mine. She came up to me and waved. I waved back. Soon enough we were playing around and copying one another. I kicked my leg out, she did too. I said my name and she told me her name too. Tiffany and Tanisha! Tada! Haha... I told her about my dad and she agreed to protest with me, even though we were different colors! Maybe I was getting some where!
