It feels oddly peaceful, doesn’t it? Two days into the Biden era and it feels like everything’s changed. Instead of the POTUS spreading conspiracy theories Twitter is filled with Bernie memes and mocking Ted Cruz because he doesn’t know why the Paris Agreement is named Paris Agreement. I woke up early today (Friday is my only day that I have to wake up before 8 and that sucks) and as I was eating breakfast I watched the White House briefing. I already love Jen Psaki. I watched the briefing yesterday too and it was so different seeing her instead of that blonde Trumpist. Psaki made the briefing sound professional and above all, respectful towards the media. Long gone are the days of Trump yelling at reporters because they don’t believe the shit that came out of his mouth.

I loved hearing Fauci speak and I’ve never actually listened to a whole briefing by him because there was always Trump or some other assholes who didn’t actually know shit about what they were talking about. Fauci himself seemed relieved and I’m sure if I were an American I would feel a lot better about the pandemic if he was like he was today morning. His job is to provide information to the public, not agree with the president. Of course it helps that politicians and health care professionals agree, but that lays on the politician’s shoulders. Professionals have their facts, whether or not they’re positive information.

When we’re talking about health, the US also re-joined the WHO. Thank fuck. Because let’s face it, the only way we’re going to get back to normal times is if most of the world population is vaccinated. Europe and North America are doing quite well. We have money, we have resources, we have vaccines. But we need international organizations and rich countries in order to make sure people in poor countries that don’t necessarily have the possibilities themselves are vaccinated too. Although vaccinating most of the first world isn’t a given either. Anti-vaccination conspiracies are still huge but it helps when social media is cleaning their platforms and the US has a sensible president who doesn’t question scientific facts for shits ang giggles. Now only if Finnish MPs were the same, I’d be happy.

Biden also signed a bunch of executive orders, the most important one for the world being re-joining the mentioned Paris Agreement. No, it’s not made to benefit Paris instead of Pittsburgh, it’s to save the whole world. Rest of the world welcomes the US back happily. Of course it’ll take a month, bureaucracy and all that, but having America on board with limiting global warming is crucial. I’m looking forward to hearing how the US plans to cut their emissions by 2030. And I recommend everyone to read the Adoption of the Paris Agreement, it explains pretty well what it requires countries to do. If you know Ted Cruz, at least tell him to read it.

It feels like a lot has changed in two days but it hasn’t. I love Biden’s optimism, sure, but I don’t agree with it. His speech at the inauguration was okay. I mean, nice, but I don’t believe that the US will be suddenly united in anything. No one probably does. I don’t know if any Americans do, but to me that just seems like stereotypical American optimism. America is ridiculously divided and it shows abroad too, because Trumpism is alive and well in Europe. Trump leaving office doesn’t change the state democracies are in, around the world. If anything, it raises questions what will happen to far-right extremism in America, in Europe, globally. But we’ll see and I’m not getting into my guesses now.

There was a lot about the inauguration I enjoyed. The poem by Amanda Gorman. Like the speech, a bit optimistic, but she’s very talented, in my opinion. And I hate hearing poems, most of the time. But props to her. I liked how Amy Klobuchar made jokes and lightened the mood every now and then. I still don’t know what to think of the Marine Corps’ band’s version of Sibelius’ Finlandia, but that was a fun fact that some people here noticed. I absolutely loved Lady Gaga singing the national anthem. I’ve never liked the US national anthem that much; way too hard to sing, the words are kind of nah, gets stuck in my head for days so no thanks. When it started it felt like the band was having a mental breakdown but no, they did a little trick there. And they kept those up. I know, some people think national anthems are not to be messed with but I liked that version because of the progressive way it was played but also because I used to be such a huge little monster back when I was 12-ish. She is one of the reasons I speak English as well as I do. I’m actually getting a huge nostalgia trip right now because I just had to listen to Gaga right now, my soul needs that. But anyway. From a musical standpoint, loved what they did with the national anthem. My opinion would be we get rid of Finland’s shitty national anthem and replace it with Finlandia like most of the country wants and then get the Marines to play their version somewhere because that would annoy certain people here.

The Trumpies won't go away but we're much better off with adults in charge.

The Trumpettes have moved underground, waiting and watching, biding their time. The NY Post is already bashing Biden, as well as Fox News, Newsmaxx, OAN, the list goes on.
Let's see were we are a year from now.
Anything will be better than the last four years.

U.S. media

Respectful to the media? The U.S. media is highly partisan and doesn't deserve any respect.

On the extreme left, you have CNN and MSNBC. This is followed by other left-wing outlets such as ABC, CBS, NBC and The New York Times. On the right, you have Fox News. All U.S. media outlets have political agendas and their news is more often contrived than actual.

Dr. Anthony Fauci

On January 31, 2020, Dr. Fauci stated the coronavirus was not a threat and no special precautions were necessary in the United States. In a March, 2020, interview with the CBS program "60 Minutes," Dr. Fauci stated categorically that wearing masks was not necessary because "masks offered little or no protection."

This so-called "expert" has been repeatedly wrong or behind the times. Dr. Fauci is nothing more than a Washington bureaucrat who's been around too long and needs to be put out to pasture.

Paris Agreement

This agreement is a "paper tiger." It's looks good on paper, but in actual fact, has very little meaning. The biggest emitter of greenhouse gases is the so-called "People's Republic of China." Only a fool would believe that China will reduce emissions and risk their "precious" export economy.

WHO

The head of the WHO is Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus from Tigray Province, Ethiopia. He's the former Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs. He's a career bureaucrat and a member of the Tigray People's Liberation Front. Dr. Tedros was responsible for covering up cholera outbreaks in Ethiopia in 2006, 2007 and 2011. He claimed the outbreaks were AWD (acute watery diarrhea).

The WHO is highly politicized and Dr. Tedros is just another bureaucrat. As Foreign Minister, he developed a very cozy friendship with China. Because of Tedros and his good friend China, the Covid-19 outbreak wasn't brought to the attention of the world until too late.

Joe Biden

Biden is a corrupt U.S. politician. 78-years old and suffering a certain degree of dementia, he's merely a placeholder until the next election in 2024. Hopefully, he'll die in office and be replaced by someone with all their mental faculties.

It's cute you think CNN is leftist. Hell, they're not even centrist. I can barely find any leftist politicians in the US. Just because someone isn't far-right doesn't make them leftist. But sure, the media is very biased in the US but that doesn't mean journalists don't deserve respect. If they ask real questions they deserve an answer. They're people too and they're doing their job. They don't need to get belittled for it.

As for Fauci, it's dumb to criticize people for what they said in March. There was little scientific information about masks and the virus overall. Experts aren't wrong when they say masks are a risk too; a lot of people wear them incorrectly which actually increases the risk of getting ill. My country's health officials didn't recommend masks until August, but that doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing. No reliable scientist will take a stand on an issue when there is no studies that show facts. In March that was the case. Unless you have studied virology/ medicine etc. I'd listen to professionals.

China is a large emitter. I don't know why you "" people's republic. Have you not studied any history? Everyone knows that "people's republic" is another word for autocracy. I think the thought that "if someone is worse than us we don't have to better ourselves". US is the second largest emitter in the world and their emissions per capita are bigger than Chinese people's. Both countries are doing shit. We need both to tackle climate change.

WHO is politicized, of course it is. They haven't handled this pandemic very well, but the world as a whole hasn't either because there's been very little international cooperation. The only one thing internationally I've seen happen is the EU making vaccine purchases as one. Good for me, but in order to get people vaccinated we need global organs like WHO to make it happen. No matter who their leader is, the people working for WHO are the ones who can get actual shit done.

I suppose every politician is corrupt and Biden is no exception. Again, unless you have proper education and have personally diagnosed a person, I wouldn't claim them having dementia. I'll also be reporting you, it's quite disturbing you wish someone dies just because you don't seem to agree with them politically.

Biden talked the talk at his inauguration. |Now he has to walk the walk. Mind saying that A five-year-old sworn in as President could do better than Trump with his inflated ego and blinkered vision and rose-tinted glasses.
