Poem about living in a hostile family enviorment.

The slam of the door signals the start of the night

The relaxed atmosphere now brimming with tension

Anger and hostility are the only emotions in the air

A furious mother and an unhinged father

Each of their screeching voices fall on deaf ears

Alcohol and emotional fatigue turns words into violence

I try to say something, but it’s like I’m not even there

I’m the invisible audience, a loved child turned to a stranger

The sound of the broken bottle ends the fight

A frail body collapses, hitting the ground

My tears struggle to drop, but I’m out of water

My heart has already shattered like the glass on the floor
