Far From Home
If home is where the heart is
I seem to have misplaced mine
It vanished in the darkness
Within Internal depths I can’t define
Tumbling terminally downward
No hope of coming to rest
Untethered and unfettered
Throughout this lifelong quest
It’s said that once you leave home
You can never go back again
But there’s also the school
That says if you go back
They have to take you in
Uncertain which aphorism is true
I choose to not be concerned
Absence has fueled futility
Through impermanence I have learned
Most regard home as a place of safety
Where, when away, remembrance is fondly of
A sanctuary from the insanity of the outside world
A haven of happiness and love
In search of existential answers
I have wandered far and wide
The one truth I’ve discovered in my travels Is that home is by your side

A very good thought for the end.

Love your poem, ShadyBrady. Great ending, and so true. Life is what you make it (definitely harder for some than others, but we all have choices).
