White Things In The Sky
I look outside my window,
there are white things passing by,
they’re falling in their thousands
as they drop down from the sky.
I try to look away from them
but have no luck ignoring,
I need to find out what they are
so I’m off out exploring.
The first thing that I notice
is the coldness that does seep
when I sink in to a pile of it
that has become quite deep.
My fur is getting wetter
and I shiver with the chill
but of all this white stuff
I have not quite had my fill.
Perhaps I should try catching some
before they hit the ground;
all the leaping warms me up
amid the muffled sound.
I wonder they taste quite nice,
so I stick out my tongue
but the white stuff disappears
before my eating’s done.
The taste it leaves, refreshing,
like water mixed with ice,
but now the wetness of my fur
is very far from nice.
With a shake I turn around
and make my way indoors
where I curl up by the fire
and lick dry my four paws.

I found that this poem expresses some dissatisfaction or yearning. It is just a question of the low spirit. It sounds like the cat loved snow sometime before, but now it feels like snow weighs down the cat.

I think they like it when it is falling through the air because they often do try to catch it. But then once it settles, the fun part quickly becomes an uncomfortable reality with them being quite small and low to the ground.
Thanks so much for giving this a read, Roman.

Haha! Thank you, Mike! Kookie still likes to go leaping after them even though she is now about six years old.
