Impossible Buildings

I stared up at the Flatiron building
From the corner of 5th and 23rd
In the foggy night imagining its impossible
Symmetries. The windows glowed with golden
Light and I thought about the lives behind
Those blinds. I thought about the lives in those
Rooms and the lives on the streets around me
And I stood there in the bright
Night not a thing, not a bit of creation but
Fused into a thousand possible things.
