Trapped and Tethered

I lay awake, though late at night,
An empty room but you're in sight.
No matter how I wish it were untrue,
My heart belongs to only you.

Despite all the lies you told,
All the promises you broke,
All the love you've never shown,
I still cannot let you go.

I wish I could spread my wings and fly,
Far away from you and your lies.
But though I know I deserve better,
To your post, I'm still trapped and tethered.
