Empty Love, Empty Heart

A boy and a girl met many years ago without a clue

That love would unite them deep and true.

They swiftly married in spite of those who

Said it would not last as negativity they began to spew.

But as the years went by their love only grew.

For every bump that life at them threw

Their love nothing could subdue.

Their lives were filled with their love and joy 

Surely it came from heaven above and nothing could destroy

Such a blessed union between a girl and boy.

They vowed their life they would enjoy

So good memories they could employ

And share places and events to re-enjoy

After age demands their adventures can no longer deploy.

Their lives were filled with that love so enduring and deep

Until the day he left her for his eternal sleep. 

Now she feels only empty love as tears down her cheeks seep

And her empty heart continues to weep.

Her mind wishes it could forget all the empty memories in one sweep

But the memories and empty love in her mind continue to creep

As she waits to join him when it is her turn for that eternal sleep.
